We are happy we picked Veterans Plumbing Services. We have been dealing with other plumbers trying to overquote us for something we didn't really need to be fixed. When we called VPS they had great customer service while making an appointment for an estimate visit. The dispatch office called on the day of the appointment to let us know Jim was on his way. He showed up on time. He was very polite, professional and very knowledgeable. We were straightforward with him, and he was very straightforward with us. After we thought we needed to spend a lot of money fixing our problems, Jim gave us peace of mind, telling us that wasn't the case. He did not try to push us to spend unnecessary money and told us exactly what we needed. Other companies were going to charge us over 10k to fix something that didn't need to be fixed, VPS quote us less than 1k. It was a no-brainer. I am sharing my experience to show how great this company and their technician are. We live in Falls Church. 2 days ago our water heater stop producing hot water. I checked the error code it shows “TCO or pressure switch failed to open”.

On day 0, I immediately called the water heater manufacture and learned it is already 2 years expired from the standard 6 years warranty. So I had to find a local plumber to either fix it or replace it.

On day 1, I contacted another plumbing service company in falls church. their two technicians came in and quickly suggested we should replace it, even we told them we are aware of it is out of warranty, but we would like a quicker and affordable fix. They insisted fix is not a good idea and didn’t do further diagnosis. Their suggested options from $7,800 to $13,000 to replace it.

On day 2, my wife found VPS on internet. They gave us a quick quote and sent their technician in the afternoon to do more diagnosis and check ups. The technician Jim came in. We told them the situation and more context about this heater. We told Jim we prefer a cheaper and quicker fix. He saw the error code. He first suggested me to contact manufacturer again to get their input on which parts should be a problem and needs to be fixed. Then at the same time he called his colleagues at VPS to get their opinions on what could be the issue. Then we compared experts notes, both sides suggested it was a venting issue. Jim took apart the venting pipe connected to the heater and cleaned it up. Then he went outside to check the venting pipe and used a shop vac to suck some debris out of the pipe. And the water heater was lit and running again.

From this experience, I felt they are doing everything right from the customer perspective, thinking about what we need, what should be the best for us. This is so simple as a way to do business, but I don’t know why I’m so touched. I guess not many companies are thinking from their customer perspective anymore. This is the way it should be done. I truly appreciate and applaud for VPS and Jim. It was my great fortune and pleasure to work with them and being their customer.
