Conveniently located by downtown not to far from the Fashion District, which is great! Recently bought some custom zippers here. The wait time for them were about 4-6 weeks which can be problematic if you don't know how to plan ahead. I've heard a few complaints before about it but honestly if you're in the fashion industry you should always prepare for the worst and have a plan B. Luckily for me I'm a professional and I always plan ahead so this was something that I could overlook. Other than that I love all the options they provide. I'm personally fond of the waterproof zippers and the metallics, Great selection of different pulls as well.

My experience with S&J has been stressful, unpleasant and EXTREMELY disloyal. They do not understand the concept of loyalty towards long term customers. I have been purchasing zippers from them for over 7 years. In the beginning they were always very unreasonable to payment terms but I dealt with it until I was finally able to work something out with them. However after years of working with them, I had hired a new production coordinator to purchase zippers from them and they tricked her into the old payment terms, when I caught on to what they did I asked them why, they said it was because of an "assumed canceled order from a few years back" My first question is "Why are you coming after me for an assumed canceled order that happened a few years ago , now?" Christine in the accounting department said exactly " I think its because of a canceled order from a few years ago but Im not sure" Hmm... Im not sure what kind of business your running over there Christine, but it sounds very unorganized. Secondly, every time I tried getting Christine on the phone to communicate and find some logic behind all of this, she would have her employee Alma tell me she was not there when I could hear her in the back round. Ive been in this business for over 10 years and I have to be honest, this is A FIRST for me. Its unfortunate because I can list at least 5 other zipper companies that do EXACTLY what they do not to mention this industry is very small and I get asked very often for zipper referrals, you better believe I will NEVER refer S&J to anyone unless they are interested in getting screwed over... I can find there products on the streets of downtown Los Angeles at ANY retail store for the SAME price as what they are selling there zippers for.
Anyway, If you are in need of zippers don't go here, visit Zip Up Zipper or UCAN ZIPPER have amazing service and understand the word "loyalty".

I have been a customer of S+J for 3 years, from where I have been purchasing YKK zippers, and will no longer do business with them due to a very negative experience. I would rate their services up until now with 3 stars. They provide sufficient/okay service, providing the zippers I order in a somewhat timely manner.

I produce canvas day packs for everyday use. Recently, I have started getting a number of customers reporting that their YKK zipper tabs have been coming off after just a few uses. I contacted David Lee (owner or manager of S+J) to report this to see how they process defective zippers. His reply was accusatory, dismissive and unhelpful. He replied that he will not issue refunds or exchanges beyond 30 days of invoice date (although YKK has a lifetime warranty) and accused my customers of washing the day packs thus stressing the zippers and causing the tab to come off. None of my five customers who reported their defective zippers have washed their day packs and even if they had, there is still a problem with zippers that falls apart after a wash through a domestic washer. He also suggested that my poor sewing skills damaged the zipper.

Understanding that communicating with David is fruitless, I contacted YKK directly and they have been absolutely great with helping me get to the root of this problem to prevent this from happening in the future. I now buy directly through them, which I recommend everyone doing instead of going through S+J!!! Their sales team have been incredibly knowledgeable + helpful in providing and explaining all of the zipper and slider options and which will be ideal for each of my applications. Their cost is also cheaper and turn around time faster than S+J.

In summary, I am very disappointed in S+J's customer service and the way David addressed (and didn't address) this situation. I think people can learn the most about a business when an issue arises and sees how the manager chooses to handle it. When I told David how unfortunate it is that he chose to treat his loyal customer this way and that I will deal directly with YKK, his dismissive reply was, "​Thank you for your business. I hope working with YKK direct will be more satisfactory. We wish you the best!​"

I'm a much happier customer of YKK now.

I've been buying my zippers from S&J for years. Always great service, my orders are filled within a week, sometimes sooner and the prices can't be beat. If you need zippers, you need to call S&J!

My daughter has a small clothing Line..and got into a really tight spot..needing very specific zippers..in a very very short time frame!
Alma was amazing..she was extremely helpful and saved the day.
Without her help..production would have been delayed by potentially months..a disaster for my daughters business. Thanks Alma!

I tried to make an email order July 28, its September 13th and I still havent received them even though I made the payment weeks ago. It takes them forever to respond and they dont put enough information as to the minimums for different kinds of zippers, so you have to wait for them to actually answer their phone or email. Never working with these guys again. --EDIT: Received the WORST customer service. They filled the documentation wrong for my order and when I called them to fix it they say they dont 'normally do this' but they will make an exception. An exception to get my order right? I've spend $2000 easily here over the past few years. Never again.
