I have a 1991 C4 Convertible that I have owned since I bought it new. It has the infamous Bose Stereo system. Over the years I have had issues with the CD player and speakers which I had repaired at various shops.
Most recently the system developed a very loud pop when turned on and off. My online investigation led me to the problem source being the CDM. I resisted pulling out the CDM knowing what a terrible job it is but went ahead anyway. I first sent the CDM to a repair shop in New Orleans who I felt comfortable with after discussing the problem. I installed it back in the car after it was supposedly repaired. To my dismay, my radio still popped when power was turned off. I sent it back to the shop and was informed it was ok with no recommendation on where else the problem could be.
So, after more investigation into another repair facility, I found Factory Car Stereo Repair. I talked to Bob who was very understanding and walked me thru possible causes, but came to the conclusion the problem source was still the CDM. After the repair was complete,Bob called me and informed me that although some capacitors were replaced, there was leakage from the old capacitors and the PCB had a lot of corrosion which should have been cleaned by the first repair facility.
After receiving the CDM back I installed it and NO MORE POPS!!!

As Bose systems go, the CD player now would not play or eject CD’s. Called Bob and without hesitation I pulled the radio head and sent it to him for overhaul. He made the changes and I now have a Bose Stereo System that actually works!

Bob is the real deal. He knows what he is doing and is very helpful in diagnosing problems with you which is a very rare talent these days.

I had a 92 Corvette stereo that didn't work as well as the power pack . Bob was able to fix the stereo while I was there,the power pack ...he called me a couple days later... had it done too.
Fantastic work at a reasonable price, plus I truly enjoyed spending time there. Great guy, good attitude, fun to be around. I'd definitely suggest making this your first call if you need a stereo for your car fixed.

Bob offers a service that essentially doesn’t exist anymore in this ‘throw away’ world. He actually fixes car stereo components and speakers at a very reasonable cost rather than suggesting they be discarded and replaced with new. Very valuable service for collectors or enthusiasts wanting to retain originality in older or classic cars. He repaired my Bose acoustic wave rear speakers/amps on my ‘93 Mazda RX-7 for which new parts are no longer available. Also added an auxiliary input to enable hook up of my i-phone. I have a wonderful 2004 Ford Focus ZTW, a truly beautiful wagon and family car. Finally, the radio not working properly, and the display was so bad in places, it could not be read. I took it to my dealer and asked for a simple, easy-to-use replacement. But what I got was very user-unfriendly, (at least for me) and the job cost almost $300.

I began to search for a way to possibly repair my own radio and found the Factory Car Stereo Repair, not too far from me. Bob told me that he wasn't sure he could fix everything, but would do tests and try. I drove about an hour to get there, and he took me right away. He said the tests and repair, if possible, would take about an hour.

In roughly an hour, he called and told me he was able to repair most of it. He removed the other new, but awful radio, and replaced my repaired one, for me. The charge was only $100. I am thrilled to have the other back, working as needed. The manner and helpfulness of Bob was especially appreciated. He obviously really knows his business. The little unassuming shop is brimming with radios and equipment, but extremely organized and amazing. I easily give Bob and his shop five stars, Plus!
